DAY TRIP IN MUNNAR
We drive about 3 kilometers towards Cochin (road) from Munnar, to the starting point of Letchmi hills trek. (Usually we start around 08.30hrs or 09.00hrs.)
The trek will start at the height of 1420 meters MSL (approx), we will start through the tea plantations for about 30 to 40 minutes, After reaching the top of the hill, rest of our couple of hours trek will be on the ridge which offers beautiful views around, it will be through grasslands, one side will be rocky mountain slope and the other side will be tea plantations, patches of Shola forest etc…, in a clear sky day we could see the Anaimudi “highest peak in S. India” and the water reservoir of Idukki Dam which listed as highest arch dams in Asia and third tallest dam in India. We will have refreshment/picnic lunch at any suitable place during the trek, our trek we will be through Nature Zone where we can see some of exotic spices like Coffee, Cardamom, etc…, also its one of the best places to spot some endemic birds of this part of Western Ghats. Will have another 40 minutes to 01 hours walk through the tea plantations to finish the trek, highest point of this trek will be about 1950 meters MSL (approx)
Our vehicle will be waiting at the finishing point at around 5th kilometers or 8th kilometers from Munnar towards Mankulam road (depending on the duration we chose)

As per the duration we choose for the trek we need to drive about 3km to 5km to the starting point at towards (at) Pothamedu. The road being narrow, it would be ideal to ride in a jeep or light vehicle.
Chokkarmudi trek will be starting with tea plantations, and leads to the ridge with grasslands, rocky terrain, etc…, The magnificent rocky mountain slopes on sides and the patches of shola forest all together will give a visual delight, the trek offers a beautiful view around including, Anaimudi “highest peak in S. inida” Idukki dam and the water reservoir of Idukki Dam which
listed as one of the highest arch dams in Asia and third tallest dam in India, our view will be to vast tea estates, and the other slope with lots of spices plantations, villages, etc…, trek path of Chokkarmudi will be more indefinite, to reach the top point we need do a small moderate ascend and after that we will descend through the spices or tea plantations to finish our trek.
Our vehicle will be waiting to drop us in hotel (if the hotel are in Pothamedu area we could even walk all the way to Hotel but it will be through road only- not very busy, small road)

We have to drive about 29 kilometers from Munnar towards Top Station through few of the major sightseeing spots of Munnar like Madupatty Dam, Echo-Point, Kundala Dam etc…, it could take 45 minutes to 01 hour drive to the starting point. Our trek will start will tea estate village will lead to tea plantation and to evergreen shola forest, montane forest, grasslands, also we will trek on the ridges of Western Ghats Eastern Slope which offers spectacular view to low land of Tamil Nadu, the second highest peak in S. India, the highest tea estate in the World “Kolukkumalai” etc…, also this is one of the best trek to explore some of the endemic birds of this region.
Our trek will start at the height of 1800 meters MSL (approx) and the highest point of the trek will be about 2250 meters MSL.
Finish the trek at (near) Top Station and drive back to Munnar

“The highest tea growing estate in the World”
After breakfast drive through the Kanan Devan Hills tea plantations and scenic beauty valleys, Lock heart gap, spice plantations etc…,
After around 25 kilometers jeep ride through the normal road we will reach the jeep able, jumpy, bumpy, rugged road to the World’s highest organic tea growing estate, it’s situates in the eastern slope of western Ghats which makes the tea very special as well the view, on our way to this estate we will have very wide view of tea estates and ride will be through small narrow jeep able roads with few bends, once we reach the top we will be able to see the Low land of Tamil Nadu, the second highest peak in S. India, etc…, from there we will drive or walk little further to one of the oldest orthodox tea factory in this region. After visiting the Factory we will have fresh tea picked, processed and made on the spot. Soon after we will start walk to a small ground where we will have our picnic lunch near the cliff with wonderful view around, will proceed to Munnar after lunch in the jeep itself if we like we can walk as much as we can and Will be a wonderful experience of the jeep drive through the tea plantations jeep able rugged road and can have close look to the spectacular country side and the rural Tamil people who is working in the tea plantations with the warm smile, also we can visit one of the oldest tea factory – in this tour in between we can walk as much we want.

Trek in the Sanctuary for about 2-3 hours and back, en route or on the way back we could visit the Historical hermitages (Muniyara) at Marayoor, and Sugar cane fields and Jaggri making etc…, (depending on the season) we suggest very early start from Munnar or start at just before noon and do the trek in the late afternoon and return back to Munnar by 08.30 pm

Chinnar – trek only
Will directly drive to Chinnar through green carpeted tea plantations which offers the vast valley view of Thalayaar and Vaguvarai tea estates, along with plenty of flowering trees like Spathodia, Jakaranda poinsettias, etc…, and we will be driving through Marayoor Sandal wood forest to Chinnar Wildlife sanctuary, will have 2-3 hours trek in the Sanctuary with the tribal guide. And drive back to Munnar,Visiting Historical Hermitages “Muniyara” will be on our way to Chinnar or on our way back to Munnar, depending on the timing we choose, if we start at 05.00 am then it will on the way back, if we start later then it will be on the way to Chinnar

Mountain Cycling –Challenge
Drive about 25 kilometers to Silent Valley tea estate and take a Challenging mountain cycle ride through gum and pine forest plantations, grasslands of Meesapulimalai hills we will start at the height of 1700 meters to 2400 meters through muddy, rugged track reach the lunch point and ride back through the same track to Silent valley it will be about 14 kilometers up and down, if we still interested we could ride back to Munnar through tea estate roads of Munnar country side (25 kilometers)Duration: Full day
